Office Cleaning – A Home Business That Can Be Started on a Shoestring Budget
As the “great recession” persists and people struggle to find scarce jobs, many are looking for new businesses they can get start on a small budget and start making money in short order. An office cleaning business may be such an opportunity. If you’re like most people, you have an array of cleaning products, solutions and tools already inside your home. They’re the supplies you use for cleaning your own house.
Cleaning an office is little different. There may be carpets to be vacuumed and hardwood floors to be mopped or swept. Windows will need to be washed, counters or shelves dusted, and furniture cleaned up. Bathroom sinks may need to be cleaned, and some offices may even have kitchen areas that will need cleaning. Whatever the office cleaning project, odds are good that you have the equipment and supplies already in your own home, so you could get started right away!
Just think about what you would need and what you probably already have in your house. For floors, you would need a vacuum, a broom, a mop and a bucket. The vacuum is the most expensive thing, and you probably already have one. The others are inexpensive enough to get if you don’t have them. You would also need assorted floor cleaners appropriate for different floor types.
You will need clothes, rags or paper towels. These will cover you for cleaning windows, mirrors, countertops, furniture and more. You’ll need cleaning solutions for those different surfaces too. For bathrooms, you’ll need toilet bowl cleaner, a toilet brush, a sponge or two, and cleaning solutions for the sink. If you don’t have rubber gloves for your home cleaning needs, you’ll probably want to invest in some! Don’t worry, though. Those are relatively inexpensive too.
So, as long as you have a car or van that can carry the supplies and equipment you need to your job sites, you probably have everything you need to start an office cleaning business.
